Reuters After anSLOTXOestimated 55,000 birds were found dead in eight coastal protected areas, the Sernánd Natural Areas Protection Agency found this bird flu to be the cause. That also killed an estimated 585 sea lions in seven marine protected areas.
In addition, laboratory tests confirmed the presence of the H5N1 virus in the dead sea lions. As a result, the official announcement "Biological Surveillance Measures"
The National Forest and Wildlife Administration of Peru (Serfor) warned people and their pets to avoid contact with sea lions and seabirds on the beach.
