Another interesting thing about the movement and music box function is that when activated, the entire dial of the watch rotates. Opera's JCFM04 movement was developed by Jacob & Co. in close cooperation with suppliers and experts in Switzerland. It is hand-wound, runs at 3Hz and has a power reserve of 42 hours. This highly complicated movement consists of 658 parts, most of which are made of gold, steel, brass or titanium. The heart of the Opera movement is not actually a music box, but a flying three-axis tourbillon. While the single-axis tourbillon once saw it as an ultra-luxury item, these days companies like Jacob & Co. have to step up if they want to charge premium prices for their mechanical creations. Thus, the spherical tourbillon assembly rotates around three pivot points. Oddly, none of these rotations are 60 seconds, so the tourbillon can't really be used as a seconds indicator (not that you worry about that).
